Two kids lying on the carpet with phones while their parents sit on the sofa

English a child learns on their own

To unlock the phone, pass an English test. To pass the test, learn the lesson of the day. So the child studies on their own, without reminders.

English is easy for kids.
Sitting down to it is hard.

We made sitting down to it the child's interest, not the parents'.

What the child learns

Vocabulary

The most common words — for your child's grade

We take the most used words in the language and give the ones the child can handle right now: one a little below their level, one at it, one a little above. Every word comes back on the Leitner schedule after 1, 3, 7, 14 and 30 days. Four right answers in a row and the word counts as known. One mistake and it starts over.

Roman with his two sons on the first day of school

Built it for my sons. Tested it on them, too.

I’m Roman, a dad of two schoolkids. We tried tutors, courses, apps — everyone tries hard, but when a child doesn’t see why they need it, it’s hard for everyone. So in Mova it isn’t mom who unlocks the boys’ phones, it’s the lesson they’ve learned. What came of it, I filmed on video.

Roman Shkabko, founder of Mova

Why it works

All the skills

The child grows in every direction — in one lesson a day.

= 5 skills

All in one lesson

Bonuses for effort

Study well — get more minutes. Bonuses for opening the app, a “Super” day and a streak add up.

Saved up

Set it up once and forget it

Add the child, attach a card, show the phone a QR code. From then on it all runs by itself: a lesson every day, minutes for results, a charge once a month. You just look into the cabinet.

0.9, not zero

“dog” instead of “a dog” is almost right. The AI judge scores it that way, and gets stricter as the level grows.

Questions parents ask first

Did not find yours?

Write to me — I answer myself, usually the same day.

[email protected]

Can the child get around the lock?

They cannot switch Screen Time off on their own. The lock is Apple's built-in protection, and new games from the same categories are locked too. The list changes only with your PIN. Someone will always find a loophole — Mova rests on an agreement, not on surveillance.

What if the test is not passed?

An hour. The next attempt comes an hour later, with different tasks. No timers and no tracking: this pause is the whole protection against guessing. And learning the lesson within an hour is quite doable.

How many minutes does the child earn?

As many as you decide. Up to 30 minutes per test: “Super” gives 30, “Good” 20. Another +10 if every test of the day is “Super”. In the cabinet you can change the minutes, turn off a test or the bonus and decide whether unused minutes burn out at night.

Do I have to sit next to my child?

No. The child does the lesson alone — otherwise the phone will not unlock. Your part is to set it up once and look into the cabinet now and then.

What age is it for?

From 5 to 17. The youngest start with the simplest words and rules, teenagers with B1 level words. Then the difficulty adjusts itself every day, with no placement test.

How does the child sign in without an email?

With a code from you. In the cabinet you see 6 digits or a QR code — the child enters them on their iPhone. No email, phone number or sign-up, under Apple's rules for kids. No ads, and only you see the progress.

Is there an Android version?

No. The child needs an iPhone: the lock works through Apple's built-in Screen Time. The cabinet opens in a browser on anything — Android, Windows, wherever.

What do I see in the cabinet?

All the progress. The child's level, how many words they know and how many they are still learning, every day's result and the streak. That is also where you set the minutes for tests.

Does it replace a tutor?

No, and it does not try to. A tutor gives explanations and live conversation, Mova gives 10–30 minutes of daily practice, without which what was learned is forgotten. Together they work best.

Lesson first. Then the phone.

You set this rule once. After that the child learns English on their own every day to unlock games and video.
